This is Jade

We adopted Jade from the Wisconsin Humane Society in Milwaukee back in January of this year. At the time she was a former stray that was brought into the shelter by a lady whose yard she was living in. Jade was definitely the runt of her litter, and before she was turned into the shelter, her two brothers were keeping her warm. The lady who did turn her in had several cats herself, and Jade would often come in her house to eat; and this is what made it so easy to adopt her out. Sometime while she was living outside, Jade suffered an eye injury; and when she was brought to the shelter, her left eye was removed. Don't worry, she does just fine without it.

Over the last few months Jade has become quite obnoxious. She seems to have endless energy, and is constantly whinning and meowing. We are starting to wonder if she really was spayed at the Humane Society like they told us she was when we adopted her. Hopefully this is just the end of her kittenhood, and she will start to settle down.

No Outdoor Cats!

Please keep your pet cats indoors. Cats are extremely destructive creatures, and during its lifetime an outdoor cat can kill thousands of birds. This is in addition to squirrels, chipmunks and other small mammals. The domesticated cat was not meant to be an outdoor animal.

Help an Adult

Kittens are very cute, and we would never try to argue that fact; but it is also true that animal shelters are full of unwanted adult cats, and there are more and more appearing on the streets. Instead of adopting a kitten, try an adult cat. Chances are they will be declawed and altered already, and you will be helping to alieviate a growing problem.

Cats or Mules?

Like mules, cats are very independent (some may call this stubborness instead). The best cat owner is a patient person who is ready to realize that the cat is not there just for them, and realizes that a cat is not the same as dog in that they are not going to meet you at the door with your pipe and slippers. Have lots of toys available for your cats, as they like to entertain themselves.
